Leadership Team

A. Wayne Evans, MD, Director

Dr. Evans is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesia (University of Toronto).

He is in active academic service and clinical practice at the new hyperbaric facility in Mississauga provided by Medical Oxygen Research and continues as a medical consultant in Hyperbaric Medicine at Toronto General Hospital (where he served as Medical Director for >10 years). He also provides diagnostic support to aid in decision making in cases where tissue arterial supply is in question under the name “Skin Perfusion Consultants”.

He is a current contributing member of the Ontario Woundcare Interest Group (ONT Wig) of the RNAO. He remains as a faculty member of the International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Course (University of Toronto) and Chiropody Program Advisory Committee Member at the Michener Institute of Applied Clinical Science. He has been the Medical Consultant for the “Telewound Pilot Project” just recently completed through a collaboration between Toronto Central CCAC and OTN.

Dr. Evans is on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Chapter of the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (CC_UHMS). That is the organization which applied for and achieved specialty recognition of Hyperbaric & Diving Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada in 2013. Dr. Evans has been appointed to the Royal College committee assigned to develop that program.

Within the OMA he is the Acting Chair of a new structure, entitled Medical Interest Group on Hyperbaric Medicine.

At the Princess Margaret Hospital he cofounded the Adult Radiation Late Effects Clinic (ARLEC) in 2000. He is also a former Emergency Room Physician and Family Physician.
